With Lampard influxing youngsters like Mason Mount and Tomori, the team will be perfect for upcoming stars

Central Midfielders: Mateo Kovacic and Ngolo Kante

Kovacic has proved effective this season, and his thrusting runs from deep should be a regular sight once again next term. Mateo Kovacic has achieved the most take-ons (69) of any central midfielder in the Premier League. Consistency in his game and Kovacic is even starting to score goals.

Kante is one of the top midfielders in world football, winning two EPL titles with Leicester and Chelsea and with French team to a World Cup. Kante has starred in over 34 top-flight games in last few years, a record which has caught up with the France international this campaign, missing significant portions of the season with multiple injuries.

In 17/18, Kante had 113 tackles and 85 interceptions. Chelsea scored 62 goals and conceded 38 with an average possession of 54.4% finishing on 70 points. So it is time for Lampard to put him back to his ideal position as a defensive midfielder.

Attacking Midfielders: Mason Mount/Kai Havertz

Mount made 41 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea in 2019-20, scoring six goals and providing five assists. He’s hungry for possession and looks to turn possession into goals. The versatile Englishman has the highest corner accuracy on the team, connecting on 47 % of corner kicks.

Havertz has a simple approach with a constant source of movement into spaces. He drops in deep to get the team forward and feeds the ball to the wings before rushing into a dangerous position to finish off the move. Havertz’s versatile nature means he can work alongside Tammy Abraham. According to Footy stats, Kai Havertz has played 24 matches totalling 2035 minutes and has 0.22 assists and 0.41 goals per game and will flourish under Lampard’s guidance.
