4. Jorginho

I just want to make one thing clear; I do agree that Jorginho is underrated by neutral fans who don’t give him as much recognition as he deserves. However, I do believe he’s overrated by Chelsea fans, with Lampard himself choosing not to play him much before the break.

Jorginho did play in the frustrating draw against Bournemouth in the Premier League, however, it was largely down to him and his midfield peers that the Blues dropped two points. It was a shambles in midfield, and Jorginho’s creativity is NOT a get out of jail free card. Especially since he was dreadful in this Bournemouth game.

With rumours from TEAMtalk suggesting that Lampard is tempted to sell Jorginho, the midfielder must do all he can in the coming months if he wishes to stay at Stamford Bridge. This starts with picking up form.

3. Marcos Alonso

Now, Marcos Alonso was the best player on the pitch in that humiliating Bournemouth draw. However, he was very inconsistent in the first couple of months of the calendar year. Let’s not forget the red card he picked up in an important match against Bayern Munich.

Alonso will probably be sold this summer, but if he loves Chelsea nearly as much as he professes to do, then he will need to pick up some form so that he can at least leave on a high. He’s a reliable goal scorer from time to time, however, this is not what his position calls for. His position calls for defensive stability, which he struggled to provide in the runup to the break.
