2. Mason Mount

I’m a huge fan of Mason Mount and as an Englishman, I hope that he fulfils the potential that he undeniably has. However, in order to reach his goal, he must cut out some of the inconsistency he has been showing this season, particularly in the 2020 calendar year.

Mount did score in his last game against Everton, which would have done him the world of good. He would have felt hard done by, though, that the break came around so soon after. What’s important is that he tries to regain that momentum and cap off the first game back against Aston Villa.

Of course, the defenders need to step up. In the second half of the Premier League season and especially in the dying stages, there is a lot of scrutiny on the defenders. This is because they are crucial to maintaining and sometimes even building on the position which their club holds.

Especially if you’re in a risky spot like Chelsea are, you’d hope that the break hasn’t deterred focus from your defenders too much. If Chelsea are to qualify for the Champions League next season, then Antonio Rudiger needs to show better form than he was showing before the break. He must lead by example and provide the stability needed in front of Kepa.
