Manchester City have let Bayern know their asking price for Leroy Sane.

The Manchester City winger Leroy Sane has been linked with the Bavarian giants for over a year now, and it appears that the move will go through in the end. Bayern Munich are eager to sign a winger, having lost both Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben at the end of last season.

Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry have done a decent job in their absence, especially under new boss Hansi Flick. Ivan Perisic was also signed to reduce the burden, while Philippe Coutinho arrived from Barcelona on loan.

But Perisic is already 31-years-old, and he could return to Inter Milan at the end of the current campaign, with no news on a potential permanent deal for the World Cup finalist. Bayern have also made it clear that they do not intend to extend Coutinho’s loan move, or make it permanent either.

More from Manchester City

That leaves the German Champions desperately short of options out wide, and Flick himself has admitted that a winger is a top priority. Former Schalke star Sane seems to be the most likely option at the moment.

The 24-year-old hasn’t made a single appearance for Manchester City this season after suffering a knee ligament injury in the Community Shield against Liverpool. While the injury is very serious, his conspicuous absence has only fueled rumours of his departure.

According to Sky Sports in Germany, City will demand a fee of £62 million for the electric winger. While that is a reasonable price for a player of Sane’s talent, Bayern will try and negotiate to drive it down.

The Bavarians currently sit on top of the Bundesliga, 7 points ahead of second-placed Dortmund, with the title virtually guaranteed. They have played some exciting attacking football under their new manager, with veteran stars like Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller shining.

Signing Sane will only further improve an incredibly talented squad. He could prove to be an important player in their bid to win the Champions League title for the first time since 2013.
