Bayern Munich take on the last real test of the season as record title inches closer.

Bayern Munich host Borussia Monchengladbach at the Allianz Arena on Saturday in the last ‘challenging’ fixture for the season as record eighth title is just six points away.

Another win for the Bavarians would mean the league will be sewn-up in the following midweek, but its far easier said than done against a Gladbach side who’ve had their numbers in the recent times.

Die Borussen, fourth in the table, are competing for the last Champions League spot, and cannot afford any more slip-ups as the season’s conclusion is only four games away.

Here, we’ll take a closer look at some of the important talking points ahead of a potentially riveting encounter:

Can faltering Foals contrive another Bayern blow out?

Borussia Monchengladbach’s plight has continued even after the shutdown. They’re once again struggling to string together victories and only impressed in bits and spurts. Such an erratic run has allowed Bayer Leverkusen to close the gap, who’re now level on points but a position adrift only by the virtue of an inferior goal-difference.

However, the Foals have an uncanny knack of claiming high-profile scalps regardless, and no one knows this any better than Bayern themselves, who’ve lost thrice to them in the last five meetings.

This very fixture last season saw the visitors conquer Allianz Arena with an emphatic 3-0 vanquish despite consistency woes, before repeating the trick in another blow out in this season’s reverse at the Borussia Park.

Now, the bogie team is back in town and even though the Bavarians have little to lose after putting some more daylight between them and Borussia Dortmund, another upset will only delay the title celebrations. And the omens once again don’t look good as the hosts will have their task cut out without some key players for the clash.
