Chelsea: 3 problems that signing Timo Werner will bring
By Kian Long
1. Too much pressure
Let us not forget, this is not the first world-class striker Chelsea have signed since Diego Costa. Alvaro Morata and Gonzalo Higuain both tried and failed to live up to the Chelsea standards, many dubbing this as the Chelsea curse which also affected Fernando Torres.
While Werner’s playing style is much different from these players, the risk is still there. With great pressure, comes great responsibility. Is Werner ready to take on such responsibility? Well, we will wait and see.

I suppose he does have big-stage experience. Representing the Germany national team and playing against the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund is great experience for any player.
However, as cliche as this may sound, the Premier League is a different kettle of fish and it requires a much stronger mentality to make it week in, week out. Especially at Chelsea, where the fans are known to turn on you pretty quick after one mistake.
Werner is a great player, and as a neutral fan, I must say I am scared by the prospect of the Blues signing him. However, I believe it’s important to be two-sided, so do let me know in the comments below why you are excited to see Werner play for Chelsea, which I’m sure I will, unfortunately, agree with.
