Juventus fans waited a long time to see their club in action. This performance wasn’t what we were waiting for.

Juventus got what they wanted out of the match, but not in a way that will leave anybody satisfied. Yes, they advance to the Coppa Italia final, but this match really shouldn’t have been close, especially with how it started.

It didn’t take long for Juventus to be awarded a pretty weak penalty for a hand ball from AC Milan. Unfortunately, Cristiano Ronaldo was unable to convert the penalty. Then thing got even better for Juve. In the immediate aftermath of the penalty, Ante Rebic decided to do his best Liu Kang impression and kick Danilo square in the chest, quickly earning himself a red card. However, Juve was never able to take advantage of the advantage they enjoyed for most of the match.

Their attack was largely unthreatening even with Milan playing down a man and the only real chance they created in the match inevitably fell to Blaise Matuidi, who wasn’t able to beat Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The 0-0 draw was good enough for Juventus to advance because of away goals, but needing away goals to advance against a team that drew 2 red cards and surrendered 2 penalties across the 2-legged tie is still a disappointing result. Juve will need to be better on Wednesday when they take on the winner of Napoli and Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia final in Rome.

GK: Gianluigi Buffon 6/10

It’s kind of difficult to give Gianluigi Buffon a grade for this match. He had just about nothing to do from start to finish. He didn’t need to make a single save and the ball was rarely in Juve’s half, so he didn’t even need to distribute the ball. The day was really just a wash for Buffon, but it at least added another clean sheet to his lengthy resume.
