CM: Blaise Matuidi 6/10

There’s no denying that starting Blaise Matuidi accomplished exactly what it was intended to, but that doesn’t mean he actually did anything all that impressive along the way. Yes, he helped Juve keep Milan from ever creating any kind of danger, but he also contributed his usual nothing to the attack.

He was also the only Juve player to get a good opportunity to score, but squandered it and got stopped by Donnarumma. This could have gone worse. It could have gone better. I hope we don’t see him in the starting lineup for the final.

CM: Rodrigo Bentancur 6.5/10

In a very surprising turn of events, Rodrigo Bentancur was put in the playmaker role even with Miralem Pjanic in the starting lineup. He unfortunately wasn’t able to provide much in the role in what was a very disappointing attacking match for the squad, but he was at least able to step up in another area.

He had a strong enough defensive match to make up for some of his attacking shortcomings, but Juve might need to cut this experiment short if he doesn’t show more as a creator soon. There’s a lot on the line for juve over the next few months and they can’t risk missing out on a trophy because they’re still tinkering with their midfield.

CM: Miralem Pjanic 5.5/10

Playing Miralem Pjanic as the mezzalla in this match was an interesting decision for Maurizio Sarri, but it didn’t turn into very much. We haven’t really seen Pjanic excel in any role for Juve, but he was particularly poor in this match. He wasn’t able to create much of anything and it would have been pretty easy to forget he was even out there for most of the match. There have been rumors about Juve moving on from Pjanic this summer and him falling short in another role could push him out even faster.
