4. Jesse Lingard

The 27-year-old is a home-grown youth academy product that has been under contract with the Red Devils for his entire career.

That contract expires in two weeks.

Despite the uncertainty regarding player contracts as a result of the pandemic, there is an option for Lingard to stay another season.

Given the run of form that the English right-winger has displayed in the last two seasons and the possible influx of new blood being pumped into the attack in the next transfer window, his career at United may be coming to an end.

His best season wearing the Red Devil badge was in 2017-18, where he scored eight goals and added five assists in league play.

Last season, Jesse dropped in production. He chipped in just four goals and two assists in 27 Premier League appearances.

This season, Lingard has as many goals as I do in the Premier League – zero. Ole has only started him in nine top-flight matches.

Jesse’s advanced numbers have dropped dramatically as well. His non-penalty expected goals plus expected assists per 90 minutes has fallen from a respectable 0.53 two seasons ago to 0.28 currently.

The re-start provides the talented forward with diminishing returns an opportunity to show the United brass that he deserves at least one more season at his career club.
