It was not the return Arsenal hoped for against Manchester City.

Arsenal let the supporters down completely last night, as they put in a good twenty minutes and then gave up, letting Manchester City run rampant by scoring three goals. Mikel Arteta won’t be a happy man, and he’ll be having stern words with these three players I’m sure.

3. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

I wouldn’t say that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang‘s performance was bad, so to speak. However, the problem lies within the fact that his performance was virtually non-existent. He was absent throughout most of the match and I can’t remember a single time where I noticed him touch the ball, even in Arsenal’s good spell.

Oh, wait a second, I can recall. It was towards the dying embers of the match when a chance was given to him to score a consolation goal. He struck the ball with no conviction at all and it pretty much summed up his performance. Dead.

Aubameyang is a cracking player and our main talisman, so if Arteta stands any chance of keeping him this summer, then he needs to keep the Gabon international fired up between now and the end of the season. Performances like last night’s make him not worth keeping at all.
