These 3 youngsters have what it takes to start for Chelsea.

If there’s anything Chelsea fans can learn from this season, it’s that Frank Lampard is willing to give time to the young and homegrown players. As we look forward to next season, here are 3 young players that could easily make the first team if they work hard between now and the end of the season.

3. Billy Gilmour

Just before the Coronavirus break, Chelsea fans were treated to a showcase of Billy Gilmour in the starting XI. He featured in a few consecutive matches for Frank Lampard, and impressed most notably against Liverpool as the Blues knocked them out of the FA Cup.

Frank Lampard is a known advocate of Billy Gilmour’s work and it’s clear to see why. There are already comparisons being drawn between Gilmour and the Chelsea legend. Gilmour loves to drive forward purposefully with the ball at his feet, breaking the barrier between midfield and attack. He is also not afraid to take on a shot when need be.

The midfield is undeniably difficult to break into as a young Chelsea player. However, I have confidence that Gilmour can use the time between now and the end of the season to stake a claim for the next term. He has what it takes, after all.
