#2 Sami Khedira

Khedira is nearing the last 12 months of his contract with Juventus, but he has no intention to leave the Old Lady. He wants very much to be part of Maurizio Sarri’s squad and is eager to magnify his legacy. This campaign, Khedira has played 13 Serie A games and has one assist to show. He hasn’t had one of his good seasons despite having the trust of Sarri.

His lack of technical skill is a big reason. Maurizio Sarri’s need for possession-oriented style has always required midfielders to be right on the ball. Khedira has presented only 25 passes per game in the Serie A-the fifth lowest at the club. That isn’t a good number for a manager who always wants his midfielders to be on the ball and move it forward. Midfielders like Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey would be able to achieve that dual role in a better manner.

That probably also tells why he was linked with moves to Wolves and Arsenal recently. With a lot of games coming at a short time, injuries will be a significant problem for Juventus and Khedira should look to make an impact even as a substitute.

More from Serie A

#1 Adrien Rabiot

Juventus are seeking to get rid of French midfielder Adrien Rabiot this summer, and have already involved the player in part exchange in several deals with other clubs.

Juventus board feels that Rabiot’s performances have not matched the €7.5m a year net salary that the Frenchman earns until 2024.His poor performance in the 1st leg of Round of 16 Champions’ League clash with Lyon ended in 1-0 loss for Juventus.

Rabiot is a deep-lying midfielder known for his neat passing and ability to move the ball quickly in the final third. He is the play-maker who keeps possession teams rolling along nicely, but from a deep role seldom records goals or assists.

Rabiot isn’t the most effective defensively, and can often be skirted in midfield or caught in possession by pressing opponents. Rabiot’s body frame means he is ideal for matches in which his team are predominant because when busy in a midfield battle, Rabiot very rarely plays well.

He is being linked with a move to Everton in a reunion with his former boss Carlo Ancelotti. A physical battle in central midfield, with heavy pressing, is what he can expect from the Premier League which might not help his style of play. So he needs to make a point to Sarri to stay in a club which dominates their division.
