2. Jorginho

Deep-lying creative midfielders are hard to come across in the Premier League, which confuses me since they are often the most productive midfielder to have in a team. Chelsea will feel blessed to have Jorginho, even if this season his form has been somewhat inconsistent.

I would argue that there is a level to this inconsistency which can be explained by the fans’ and indeed the manager’s heavy reliance on him for the creative aspect to Chelsea’s game. While some players thrive with this onus, others crumble.

This is why I feel like the signing of Kai Havertz would greatly benefit Chelsea, and not just in terms of his goals. The assists he provides and chances he creates will serve the team well, but mostly Jorginho.

See, this means that Jorginho will take on a lighter role, meaning he will help Mateo Kovacic to dictate the play in midfield, knowing that the creativity will occur further up the field. Of course, you can still expect to see Jorginho pinging the balls forward, he will feel glad to have some of the creative onus relieved of him.

That said, I feel like fans can expect to see a happier and more consistent Jorginho next season if Havertz is signed.
