Manchester United may have found Jadon Sancho’s cheaper version.

In a bid to address the absence of a right-sided forward, Manchester United has targeted Jadon Sancho, Man City academy graduate currently at Borussia Dortmund, to fill the role long-term at Old Trafford.

However, Borussia Dortmund’s refusal to budge down on the asking price (in the region of £100), despite the unprecedented financial loss due to COVID-19, has prompted Manchester United to seek other options.

One such alternative is considered to be AS Roma’s Cengiz Under, as per Corriere Dello Sport(via Sport Witness). It is said that Man United have sent their scouts to monitor Turkey international in the past.

More from Manchester United

With transfer fee expected to hover around 30 million Euros, Manchester United could save fortunes if they decide to pursue the 22-year-old instead of Jadon Sancho.

Given I Giallorossi’s intentions of on-loan Man United centre-back Chris Smalling stay in Rome permanent, it would be interesting to see if Under’s name is brought up to act as a potential makeweight. Only time will tell.

Recently, according to reports in Italy, Manchester United made a bid- around 60 Million Euros- for Chiesa deemed “very close” to the demands of Fiorentina.

Despite such rumours, it’s understood that Jadon Sancho still remains a priority for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Man United are prepared to offer achievable add-ons which could reach Dortmund’s desired figure of £100m.

As witnessed in Red Devils’ negotiations with Sporting CP for Bruno Fernandes, the club chiefs are prepared to play the waiting game to avoid being bullied by the selling party. How things stand, this saga has all the ingredients to be a long one.
