The return to action has seen a return to form for these Chelsea stars.
Chelsea have marked their return to football in fine fashion, winning twice by the same scoreline of 2-1. They first returned to action against Aston Villa, where they completed a second-half comeback and then continued their winning ways against Manchester City, crowning Liverpool as Premier League champions in the process.
Here are 3 players that have stood out for Frank Lampard…
3. Cesar Azpilicueta
You can say what you’d like about Cesar Azpilicueta, but one thing you can’t deny is that the man loves his football. This is why Chelsea fans were so excited to see him return to action, but nobody was as excited as the man himself.
Azpilicueta marked his return to football in the most Azpi way possible, with two assists against Aston Villa to give Chelsea the comeback they needed. He also had a good match last night against Manchester City, as he prevented an in-form Raheem Sterling from having a sniff at goal. Well, he was saved by the post, but we won’t discredit Azpi for that.
He may be entering his 30s now but Azpi is showing no signs of deterioration and if anything, he only seems to be improving. The Chelsea fans will love this, and he will surely be a crucial player to Lampard for a few seasons to come.
