Since the restart, Aubameyang is on a three-game goalless streak which is incredibly poor by his fine standards. He did come closer to scoring against Southampton of course, as he hit the woodwork in a one-on-one situation. Usually, he converts from these positions though, and with great aplomb.

The Gabon international is surely just going through a stage of rustiness as let’s not forget all top quality strikers are entitled to these phases. I’m certain it is merely a phase and that Aubameyang will return to his fine goalscoring form soon.

In the hopes of qualifying for a Europa League or even Champions League spot, Arteta needs his main talisman to be firing on all fours. Let’s hope that the involvement from Arsenal’s young guns will revitalise the experienced goalscorer into getting on the score sheet himself.

I highly doubt that Arteta will choose to start Aubameyang in the match against Sheffield United but he may come off the bench. It just seems risky with the tight schedule of fixtures to start Aubameyang four games in a row, but he will play a part from the bench I feel.
