It wasn’t pretty in the end, but Arsenal got the job done.

Arsenal took on Sheffield United away from home in the FA Cup quarter-finals, a competition which has served the Gunners incredibly well throughout the history of the club as they are the most successful team in the competition.

Here are the 5 key highlights from a tie with good viewing…

5. Drama at the depth

Ah, the magic of the FA Cup, aye? Arsenal fans certainly missed it, but they definitely didn’t miss the increased heartbeats in the final stages of the match.

Luckily, this time it prevailed. As Nicolas Pepe gave the Gunners a lead in the first half, a second-half Sheffield United came out rampant and with their eyes on the goal. They managed to get it in the 87th minute from David McGoldrick.

In all honesty, after Arsenal conceded this goal it looked like we would go on to concede another one as the Blades mounted on the pressure. But the substitute Dani Ceballos had other ideas, with a clever finish from a tight angle to beat Dean Henderson in the 90th minute.

This allowed the Gunners to sit back and defend the heard-fought lead for the remaining few minutes, booking their place in the semifinals of the competition. Let’s hope for some of the same drama in favour of Mikel Arteta‘s Arsenal next time out.
