Chelsea risk losing this full-back duo to Inter Milan this summer
By Kian Long
Chelsea has work to do if they wish to keep their full-backs.
The jury is certainly out on the full-back position for Chelsea. While many are happy with the options that Frank Lampard possesses in this area of the pitch, others think it’s time for a revamp, and a serious one too.
The main topic of debate seems to be Marcos Alonso, because many have already decided that Emerson Palmieri is not fit to start each match for the Blues. The Spaniard, however, has something going for him in respect of him scoring many goals and providing assists.
His defensive ability is up for debate, certainly. I personally believe that Chelsea could stick out another season with Alonso because it’s not like he is *awful*. In fact, he can often be the saving grace in matches when Chelsea need all the help they can get with scoring.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan are eyeing a lucrative double swoop for Emerson and Alonso this summer. It’s expected that this will only motivate the Blues more to sign Ben Chilwell, though, so every cloud has a silver lining.
Raising as much funds as possible from this double swoop could serve the Blues very well in their bid to sign Chilwell from Leicester City. The Englishman is an attacking full-back that excels in the final third, so he would be a direct replacement for Alonso certainly.
This would be two great bits of business for Chelsea already this summer, when you consider they have already secured the signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig. This is to be expected since Chelsea were transfer banned last summer so they were bound to have some cash stored up somewhere.
I mean, who can blame Frank Lampard for splashing the cash at his first real opportunity? Just imagine how much the board is willing to invest when the Coronavirus pandemic is a thing of the past.
Who do you think Chelsea will sell this summer?
