Chelsea will have their eye on replacing Marcos Alonso…

With the summer transfer window fast approaching, Chelsea fans are busy thinking of all the world-class talent that could be brought to the club this summer. And why wouldn’t they have this mindset, having already secured the signing of Timo Werner?

However, it’s important to also consider the players leaving. With Marcos Alonso likely to be on his way out this summer, Frank Lampard would have drawn up a shortlist of replacements I’m sure. Here are my top three choices…

3. Alex Sandro

The Juventus full-back has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for as long as I can remember. That said, Chelsea fans and indeed Frank Lampard will be familiar with his exploits and what he can bring to the XI.

Much like Marcos Alonso, Sandro is a versatile full-back that likes to play in the final third as much as possible. Although, he is not as much of a goal threat as the Spaniard is so this is something for Chelsea to consider. He does love to provide an assist though, as his ability to overlap the winger and put it on a plate for the striker is excellent.

I do believe that Werner will thrive playing alongside Sando more than he would be playing alongside Alonso, simply from a goal scoring point of view.

The Brazilian is getting on a bit, though, so he would only be a short-term replacement. Ageing at 29 years old, Sandro is still capable of playing at the top level for another few years until a replacement is needed.
