1. Ben Chilwell

The top option of the list should undeniably be Ben Chilwell of Leicester City. The 23-year-old may be young but he is a terrific option for Chelsea to have and, in all honesty, a large reason why Leicester are on track to finish in the top four and perhaps even above the Blues.

Chilwell is an England international, which tends to be a common theme in Frank Lampard’s starting elevens. He likes to build his team around a strong and young English core, which is what he has done this season with Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount.

As Chilwell prepares for a potential place in the starting XI at Euro 2021, he will feel more at ease starting for Chelsea. Gareth Southgate will have a keen eye on this move, should it go ahead.

Ben Chilwell will undeniably be the most expensive option of the bunch, primarily because the Foxes have no real reason to sell. He is not running out of contract nor is he particularly desperate to leave. However, he is worth all the hassle given his sheer quality and what he would bring to the XI.

Chilwell is excellent going forward. He possesses each game with immense aplomb and despite being a full-back, he looks more than comfortable whenever he finds himself in the final third. I do feel like Chilwell is the most defensively able of the options I’ve mentioned, which will fill Lampard with real confidence since this is something that Alonso has lacked at times this season.
