Chelsea receive a massive boost in quest to sign Kai Havertz

Chelsea are now frontrunners to sign the young German.
The Kai Havertz situation at Chelsea is certainly dragging out for longer than Timo Werner did. With Werner, it seemed very snatch-and-grab, but with Havertz, Chelsea are playing the long game. Either way, the fans will hope that the end result is the same; signing an amazing Bundesliga talent.
Well, it would appear that the Blues may have received a boost in their quest. According to The Sun, the Bayern Munich chief has confirmed that the club will no longer continue their pursuit of the Bayer Leverkusen star. This is a surprise, considering Munich seems to be the destination for most young German talents.
Chelsea fans certainly won’t complain though. With Bayern Munich now out of the equation, they can step up their pursuit knowing that the competition will not be as strong. This is not going to alter his price, of course, but Leverkusen may be more inclined to sell now that they’ve got the Bundesliga competition out of the way.

Kai Havertz is an excellent playmaker and has been key to Leverkusen this season. I watched him a lot when the Bundesliga returned to action, and I was particularly impressed by the way he was able to anchor the gap between midfield and attack.
Obviously, Chelsea already has a young player that is able to carry out this role in Mason Mount. So, if the deal does fall through, they shouldn’t be too disheartened. After all, their defence is known to need improving anyway and if anything, Havertz is simply a luxury signing. But who doesn’t love luxury?
Lampard is a huge fan of Mount, so if he is to sign Havertz, then he will be looking for ways to include both of them in the starting XI.
