Chelsea: Lampard is prepared to go all out to sign Kai Havertz
By Kian Long
Chelsea’s hunt has taken another twist, for the good.
I was once a doubter that Chelsea would sign Kai Havertz. Perhaps that was just wishful thinking, though, looking back at it. Truth be told, as a rival fan, I absolutely fear the possibility of Chelsea accomodating BOTH Timo Werner and Havertz. They would surely be title favourites.
Well, it would appear that Chelsea have reached a new stage in their quest to sign Havertz and it seems only inevitable now. According to a new report from Express, the Blues are willing to offload six players to sign Havertz this summer. Yes, SIX.
It remains to be seen who those players are, but we can hazard a pretty good guess. I assume Marcos Alonso will be on the list alongside some deadwood players such as Danny Drinkwater, who simply has no future at the club.

The money raised from the sales of these players, as well as the freed up space in the squad, will serve the Blues well in their bid to sign Havertz. Especially with the Coronavirus pandemic hindering clubs’ financial opportunities, they must take all the helping hands they can get.
Frank Lampard has a lot of depth in his squad, as well as a lot of players out on loan. While rival fans like myself have always criticised them for this, Chelsea has the last laugh now. In all honesty, it was a smart investment technique.
Anyway, I’m going on a bit of a tangent here. Havertz is an incredible player and he is just what the Blues need. He will be pivotal in acting as the anchor between midfield and attack, as he has done this season for Bayer Leverkusen. In many ways, he is a similar player to Mason Mount, so Chelsea’s creativity will surely shine.
Do you think Chelsea will sign Mason Mount this summer?
