2. Domagoj Vida

Wow, there’s a name I haven’t heard in a while, and what a name it is. Props to anyone that can remember the 2018 World Cup that Vida had, although it does pain me as an England fan to think about Croatia reaching the final.

Vida has an incredible demeanour on him for a centre-back, which is exactly what Arsenal need. In all honesty, I know it’s cliche but the Gunners have gone too soft in defence and it’s no coincidence that the best strikers in the game love playing against these defenders. It’s just a guaranteed chance at goal for them.

Vida is very much a no-nonsense type of defender in a sense of he doesn’t like being beaten, so he is willing to put a lot on the line to win back the ball. It’s also very rare that you will catch him lacking, which the same cannot be said for Luiz or Mustafi.

The one thing that worries me about Vida is that he does age at 31 years old, so it seems far too cliche for Arsenal to be chasing someone like him. However, he’s not really showing any signs of deterioration like the likes of Luiz, Sokratis or Lichtsteiner were showing before we signed them. Besides, it will probably do Saliba good to be partnered alongside someone who has played at the highest level like Vida.
