3 reasons why Chelsea must sell Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer
By Kian Long
1. The replacements are endless
I suppose the main form of anxiety that derives from selling Kepa is the idea that Chelsea won’t be able to replace him given the conditions of the current transfer market, but this shouldn’t be a push factor.
In fact, there are many replacements out there for Chelsea to consider and the main thing is, they won’t need to sacrifice in terms of quality. According to a new report, Jan Oblak has even emerged as an option, which would entail a player-plus-cash offer on Chelsea’s side. This would be the most ideal option because Oblak is rightfully regarded as the best shot-stopper in the current game.

If Oblak doesn’t go ahead, though, there is no need to threat. Andre Onana‘s name has been thrown around a lot in recent weeks, with Chelsea clearly interested in the Ajax man. Onana is a younger option than Kepa and is arguably playing at the same level, the only difference being Onana doesn’t have a fiery temper as Kepa does, so Lampard wouldn’t need to worry about that.
If the Blues do keep ahold of Kepa, then this wouldn’t be the end of the world. Of course it won’t since Kepa is an excellent goalkeeper. However, it would require tougher discipline on Frank Lampard’s behalf and Kepa would need to accept authority (this is the case wherever he goes, anyway).
