Chelsea aren’t messing around with this latest Jan Oblak offer

Chelsea want their man and will stop at nothing to get him.

If there’s one key pattern of this summer’s transfer window, it’s Chelsea. The Blues have been involved in some incredible business already this summer as they’ve secured the signing of Timo Werner, with Hakim Ziyech also arriving ready for the new season.

But Frank Lampard is not done there. The English manager wants to make up for not being able to sign players when he first arrived by giving the supporters a show this summer, not being fazed by the obvious implications of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Kai Havertz appears to be on his radar, but this story has dragged out for some time now. The latest to hit the headlines is the pursuit of Jan Oblak. According to a new report from AS, they’re not being slow about the deal either. The Spanish outlet claims that the Blues are willing to offer around £90m for his services.

This is an incredible deal to make given the climate of the current transfer window and it will be a test of how much Atletico value Oblak, who is considered by many to be the best shot-stopper in the world, which I agree with. His contract expires in 2023 and he doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of discomfort, which is probably why the Blues have lined up a sizeable offer.

Truth be told, many clubs will struggle to dish out this much money for outfield players (we’ve already seen the outrage following Jadon Sanho’s price…) let alone a goalkeeper. I suppose this just proves that Chelsea’s transfer ban last time out was a blessing in disguise because they now have funds when they need it most.

There’s also talk that Chelsea could include Kepa Arrizabalaga as a part-exchange deal, which would lower the price and perhaps make Atletico more inclined to accept.

Do you think Chelsea will sign Jan Oblak this summer?
