Manchester City close to making their first signing ahead of the new season.

More good news for Manchester City as they are set to follow up their favorable court ruling earlier in the week by completing a signing for next season.

According to Eurosport, City are close to signing Valencia winger Ferran Torres. The report claims that the player’s representatives met with City’s representatives where the two sides came to an agreement.

His contract ends in June of 2021 and the 19-year-old has put talks with Valencia on a contract extension on hold.

More from Manchester City

Valencia recently made headlines as the club is preparing themselves for what looks like a fire sale as players like Carlos Soler, Jose Luis Gaya and club captain Dani Parejo have all been deemed transferable.

The situation at Valencia has been less than ideal dating all the way to before the start of the season when they fired Marcelino despite him leading the  to club to a Copa del Rey final and winning it against Barcelona.

Torres has been a revelation and has represented Spain in their youth categories. He’s a very talented winger who had drawn the attention of several elite teams like Juventus, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

It appears that Manchester City has been able to beat all of them and secure his signing. Given his age, City are likely to tie him down with a long-term contract. He would be seen as a replacement for Leroy Sane who recently signed for Bayern Munich.

The dispute between the Valencia owner and their fans as well as their players have destabilized the side and it’s not surprising why Torres would be questioning his future there. With City no longer banned from the Champions League it would give him an opportunity to play with a team who can possibly win it.

All that remains is for Manchester City and Valencia to come to an agreement. With City being able to offer more than other teams, an deal between the two sides should happen sooner rather than later.
