It’s been a long time coming, but Manchester United could put it to bed.

Thankfully, the Paul Pogba conundrum has been put to the background in recent months. Manchester United fans were getting really tired of hearing the conflicting stories day in, day out. Will he stay or will he go? That’s the answer that the English media never quite answered.

Well, if recent reports are anything to go by, then he could be staying at Manchester United for the foreseeable future. According to The Sun, the Frenchman is close to signing a new deal, and should he put pen to paper then he would be under contract for a further five years.

This is a huge commitment to make but I suppose it just goes to show that Pogba is right when he professes to love. He is a boyhood Manchester United boy, which is why many of the fans felt sentimental when the rumours spiralled that he’d be leaving the club.

More from Manchester United

Truth be told, Pogba has been incredible since the restart. Granted he may not have been at the top of his game when United dropped points against Southampton, but I’m struggling to think of a player that was on top form in this one. With this form, he is now beginning to find his way back into the starting XI which could be indicative of Solskjaer’s stance to tie him down for the future.

If Pogba is in the heart of midfield alongside Bruno Fernandes, then it personifies the attacking philosophy that the Norwegian boss is trying to implement at United. It’s a refreshing change from the boring, defensive football they had to endure under Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.

Next. Manchester United would be going backwards with this deal. dark
