4 signings that could put Chelsea in next season’s title race
3. Kai Havertz
Out of all the players Chelsea are targeting, the name that has come up the most is Kai Havertz. The Blues have the upper hand in negotiations, as they are seemingly the only club willing to meet Bayer Leverkusen’s valuation of about £90m.
They are attempting to negotiate a better deal, but if they are unable to it appears they are prepared to pay that price, especially since the fee can be paid in installments.
Havertz is a goalscoring midfielder, much like Lampard himself in his day, but there is so much to his game beyond that. He is an excellent dribbler and passer, and his vision is also outstanding, which makes him a perfect attacking midfielder.
He is a generational talent, and he could well be a future Ballon d’Or winner, which is why if Chelsea have the opportunity to sign him this summer, by all means, they should take it.
The German has blossomed into a world-class player at just 21, which means that Lampard could even use him for six or seven years and then sell him at a huge profit. His potential is endless, but he is also a very valuable player right now.
Havertz could be the key link between midfield and attack Chelsea have been searching for, and the opportunity to play with international teammate Werner is just one of the reasons he wants to play at Stamford Bridge.
He is excited by Lampard’s project, and for a player like him to want Chelsea as his next step into stardom bodes very well for Chelsea’s future, as well as the present.
