Arsenal really want to keep the Spaniard who’s served them well.

Project restart has been taken quite literally by Arsenal’s Dani Ceballos. He was having a tough time in the Arsenal starting XI prior to the lockdown but since returning to action, he has been incredible, even scoring the winning goal late on against Sheffield United to secure his side’s place in the FA Cup semifinal, where they will now play in the final against either Chelsea or Manchester United.

But Mikel Arteta wants to extend Ceballos’ stay beyond just this season. According to a new report from El Confidencial, Arteta has confirmed he is in talks with Real Madrid representatives to extend the loan by another year, with an option to buy. However, inevitably Florentino Perez is unhappy with this since he may want to cash in.

Ceballos seems incredibly happy at Arsenal since he is always in a fighting spirit and hungry for more, which is exactly what Mikel Arteta requires in his project rebuild. He will be happy to play in a cup final in only his second Wembley Stadium appearance too.

More from Arsenal FC

You can really see why Arteta is eager to keep Ceballos and has had a change of heart. He is a creative player, which is exactly what the Gunners need with Mesut Ozil out of the starting XI for some time. Ceballos is key to bursting forward with the ball at his feet and unlocking play for his teammates and the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang love playing with him in the team.

Arteta’s aims for this season are to win the FA Cup now and finish as high as possible in the league standings, which could give Ceballos even more incentive to serve Arsenal for at least another year. In fact, I can say with almost certainty that come the end of his year extension, we would be in a better financial position and want to sign him permanently.
