Manchester United: 3 Expected summer arrivals for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Manchester United are on the cusp of attaining a top-four league finish.
Nobody would have comprehended Manchester United being a positive spell of 90 minutes away from a coveted Champions League qualification via Premier League spots, a few months ago. But, credit to the grit of the club insiders to embark the journey to a promising destination.
However, considering the size of club we’re talking about, settling for just an appearance in elite European competitions is considered mediocrity, competing with the cream of continental football’s crop, on a regular basis. To reach that status, Man United should continue the work which has ensured positive strides in a 12-month spell.
Reinforcing the squad is the major factor while bridging the gap to the pinnacle. But, the current economic climate presents a stern challenge to almost every footballing brand across the globe. Nonetheless, it could, also, be a golden chance to work hard in the market where others can’t.

It could prove to be in United’s favour, who despite incurring substantial losses are still well poised to flex their financial muscles in the summer transfer window. Though it is the time where optimum planning and caution, only, will result in rich dividends.
United setting their eyes on Jadon Sancho, it becomes even more imperative that Solskjaer uses his funds judiciously, considering the upscale financial requirements to crack the deal with Borussia Dortmund.
#3 Jadon Sancho
Any arrival would not be termed as a coup for Man United but Jadon Sancho. Investing their concrete interest for more than a year, it would be a massive disappointment for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer if his prime target fails to arrive at Sir Matt Busby Way in Manchester.
Regardless of UCL football next season, United bosses are planning a bumper financial package to satisfy Dortmund’s transfer demands for Sancho, making him club’s marquee summer signing. As things stand, the English winger’s arrival at the Old Trafford is a matter of when not if.
Talking about Sancho, Solskjaer would experience a massive boost in his attacking department with the addition of the 20-year-old. Despite envisaged as a reinforcement for the right-sided area, Dortmund’s number seven is capable of featuring across the front-line, promising a mouth-watering forward trio featuring Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.
#2 Donny van de Beek
Netherlands international made the rounds in English media after Real Madrid, apparently, pulled out of the deal to sign him this summer. Donny van de Beek has been linked with a move to Manchester United as Solskjaer is eager to add quality depth and competition for Bruno Fernandes.
Jack Grealish, one of United’s prime target, might be a difficult deal to strike, considering Aston Villa’s safety in the Premier League pushing their skipper’s asking price above £50m. On the other side, Van de Beek is not going to cost more than £45m.
The 23-year-old’s versatility, being capable of operating in a deeper role, is an added factor which provides flexibility alongside quality depth for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. It could be an astute piece of business for a player who is among the brightest prospects in Europe.
#1 Gabriel Magalhaes
After a few loose defensive instances during the season’s course, Solskjaer is keen to add an aggressive centre-half with ball composure alongside club captain Harry Maguire. Being previously linked with the likes of Alessio Romagnoli, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Nathan Ake, Man United have identified Gabriel Magalhaes as economical fit for the back-four.
The player has attracted monitors from scouts of a range of European clubs. Magalhaes has proved his ball-playing abilities this season, being Ligue 1’s most successful forward passers from the defence, with 111 progressive balls into the final third.
Gabriel’s ease of pinging diagonal ball could be a valuable skill, considering Solskjaer eager to find a player capable of finding forward passes of the different projectile to that of Maguire, and the left-footed Brazilian could fill that void with aplomb.
