It’s advantage Chelsea in the Chilwell conundrum.
Chelsea endured a stellar end to the Premier League season, as they secured Champions League football; a competition that’s served them well in recent history. Although they didn’t need it, they were helped by Manchester United defeating Leicester City in the finale, with the Foxes settling for Europa League.
Given the promise they’ve shown throughout the season, many players will be disappointed with not playing among Europe’s elite next season. They are certainly up there in the calibre of Champions League teams.
One player who has been particularly important for the Foxes this season is Ben Chilwell, the left-back who is key to creativity. He has understandably been a hot topic of interest this summer, particularly with Chelsea who wish to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

Now that the summer transfer window is now officially open in the Premier League (it’s about time), Chelsea can make some progress to strengthening their full-back position, with Marcos Alonso subject to a move away this summer.
It’s thought that Chelsea will receive a helping hand from Chilwell, who also wants the move to go ahead. According to a report from The Mirror, Chilwell plans to inform the Leicester City hierarchy that he wants a move away this summer, to Stamford Bridge.
Having already secured the signing of Timo Werner this summer, with Hakim Ziyech also arriving ready for next season, there are doubts that the Blues will have the funds available to sign Chilwell. However, given the transfer ban they served last summer, they have a lot of saved cash and player sales will also help Roman Abramovich in his project.
Both the club and the player want the deal to go ahead, so now the ball is in Leicester’s court. Do you think they will allow Ben Chilwell to sign for Chelsea?
