3. Dean Henderson

Sheffield United came into the league and shocked everybody, and Dean Henderson was a big part of that. Their biggest strength was their defensive record, and the 23-year-old was spectacular all season.

The question of whether he can make the step up to a bigger team has answered itself, really, because even though they finished 9th in the end, Sheffield were 5th for a long time. If not for their end-of-season capitulation, they could’ve been in Europe next year.

Lampard has shown an interest in Henderson recently, and the Blues could make an offer around the €45m mark. The only problem is that he is not a Sheffield player, but a Manchester United loanee.

His dream is to succeed at United, but he wants to be the No. 1 next season, and with a player like David De Gea (at least the old De Gea, not this bootleg new one) it seems unlikely.

For Chelsea, however, the inevitable exit of Kepa could mean Henderons’s offered the role he wants, which could entice him into accepting an offer. Right now, he just wants to play for his club, no more loans. Lampard could give him that.

His first England cap is imminent, and he looks like he could be the future for Gareth Southgate and the Three Lions, but first, he needs to sort out his own club future. If Chelsea give him that starting spot he fancies, it could be a very shrewd acquisition.
