4. Nick Pope

If there’s one thing we know about Lampard as a manager, it’s that he loves English players, so he wouldn’t hesitate to snap up a solid British keeper. Nick Pope could be that guy.

Playing for Burnley, who have a good defensive record but are bombarded with shots every game, he was one clean sheet away from winning the Golden Glove this season.

Almost exclusively, an award like that goes to the league champion or someone in the top four (which it did), but Pope being a game away from receiving it himself is a testament to his quality.

He is a proven Premier League goalkeeper, a seasoned one too at 28, but he has a lot left in the tank, and it is time for him to take the next step in his career. Coming off his best-ever season, this is his best chance to land a spot with one of the big boys.

Pope knows he can be Champions League-calibre, so why spend his entire career for a side that will always be midtable? He should aspire for more, and Chelsea can give him that opportunity.

He will be a cheaper option, so he is also a lower risk, and one worth taking for Lampard. He could even be signed as a second option to fight for a spot with a younger player, say, Henderson?

However way you look at it, Pope is a smart, reliable purchase, unless Burnley decide to pull a Leicester and drive up his fee by £50m.

It is clear Chelsea need to sign a new goalkeeper, and they have an opportunity to do so this season, one they must take advantage of.

If they can get one of these signings over the line, especially Oblak, then Lampard and Chelsea will have a title challenge on their hands next season. Over to you, Frank.
