Arsenal vs Chelsea: 5 key battles that could determine FA Cup final
By Kian Long
#2 Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang vs Cesar Azpilicueta
Arsenal’s most dangerous player is without a doubt Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. This was shown in the semifinal where he netted twice to secure the Gunners’ place n the final. He is a rapid attacker that primarily plays out wide, always looking to get in behind his opposing defender.
If playing on his side, Cesar Azpilicueta is the best player to match Aubameyang. While he may have lost a yard of pace, his experience as a full-back on the big stage will serve him well. He will aim to prevent any running in behind.
It’s difficult to predict a winner of this battle because they have both shown their consistency, it’s just a case of who wants it more.
#3 Dani Ceballos vs Jorginho
The midfield battle is always a bit of a generic one, but it’s always important to discuss. Both the Arsenal midfield and the Chelsea midfield are star-studded with quality. Dani Ceballos is currently in the process of extending his loaned contract at Arsenal, with the fans eager for this to happen with good reason.
The Spaniard has been exceptional since project restart and has been a huge source of creativity for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. If he starts in the cup final, which would be bonkers not to, then it will be Jorginho’s role to shield him, I’m sure.
Jorginho has had an inconsistent season and given that this will likely be his last game for Chelsea, I can only see one winner here. Ceballos is in for a good game.
