#4 Nicolas Pepe vs Marcos Alonso
If Frank Lampard starts Marcos Alonso, which given the occasion I’m sure he will, it will be an interesting battle. Alonso likes to press forward a lot more than Reece James does, so this may be give Nicolas Pepe a lot of space to work.
Alonso is a goal threat, though, and having scored against Arsenal before, Lampard won’t mind him pushing forward where possible. It’ll be a case of whether or not Pepe makes use of that space, which given his recent performances, you would assume he will.
Both players have a point to prove; Pepe to perform on the big stage and Alonso if he wishes to have a Chelsea future.
#5 Lucas Torreira vs Mason Mount
Again, another matchup involving the midfielders in this match. Both Lucas Torreira and Mason Mount are waiting to win their first trophy at their respective clubs, so this is a huge opportunity for them to do so.
Mason Mount was the hero of the final Premier League matchday, as he helped Chelsea beat Wolves to secure their place in the Champions League next season. He will be hoping to either get on the score sheet or act as a provider in this match, as he likes to bridge the gap between midfield and attack.
While Lucas Torreira is able to bomb forward and oftentimes does, should he start in this match then his role will be to cover the back-line of three defenders. He will carry out the nitty-gritty tasks which will involve keeping Mount at bay by pressuring him on the ball. It’ll be an interesting battle, for sure.
