Arsenal would be crazy not to take Barcelona up on this offer

Arsenal have been given an offer they simply can’t refuse.

The whole footballing world know how eager Barcelona are to sell Philippe Coutinho this summer. His loan spell to Bayern Munich wasn’t successful enough for the Bavarians to sign him so Barca have been left with limited options, one of those including Arsenal.

In a shocking turn of events, Barca have used their interest in Matteo Guendouzi to give the Gunners a great deal. According to the Independent, the Camp Nou side have claimed they will accept an offer of Guendouzi plus £9m cash in return for Coutinho.

As far as Arsenal are concerned, this is an offer they can’t refuse. Personally, I’m a big fan of Guendouzi but I don’t think he’s anywhere near the level that Coutinho is. Given the fact that Arteta has fallen out with the Frenchman too, this only makes the deal more worthwhile since Guendouzi was likely on his way out anyway.

Oftentimes the French midfielder can be a liability in the midfielder. He is known to have a raging temper which can sometimes be Arsenal’s friend, but when the fouls add up, he ends up looking all over the place on the field. This is partly the reason why Arteta doesn’t get on with him.

Philippe Coutinho, on the other hand, is proven quality. He may not have had the easiest of times in La Liga or the Bundesliga, but he is one of the most influential Premier League players in the last decade, as he was key to Liverpool’s rebuild (although he didn’t stay for long enough to reap the rewards).

With Coutinho in the side, this would also give Arsenal the push they need to get rid of Mesut Ozil. The German provides nothing to the XI and it’s key for Arteta to only have players that want to make it under his philosophy. Dani Ceballos and Coutinho would give the Gunners everything Ozil does and more, anyway.

Do you think Arsenal should take Barcelona up on this swap deal?
