Chelsea line up their latest option to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga
By Kian Long
Chelsea aren’t short of goalkeeper options this summer.
While Frank Lampard may have added a new dynamic to Chelsea this season, one narrative has remained the season. He too found it difficult to get along with Kepa Arrizabalaga, as the Spanish shot-stopper has found himself sitting on the bench at times this season.
The problem is that Chelsea don’t have any real hope between the sticks, with Kepa proving a burden and Willy Caballero only deteriorating with age. Frank Lampard simply needs to sign a new shot-stopper and he needs to do so this summer.
According to a new report from the Star on Sunday, Chelsea have increased their efforts to sign Nick Pope from Burnley. The Clarets, who finished 10th this season, may be hoping to cash in on their most pivotal player since the Coronavirus pandemic has left many clubs with limited funds.

Nick Pope is hoping to prove to Gareth Southgate this summer that he has what it takes to represent England in the postponed Euro 2021. With Jordan Pickford having a successful World Cup campaign some years ago, the jury is out as to whether or not he should be a sure starter. Dean Henderson is also in contention.
Nick Pope would be a nice option for Frank Lampard. As he looks to build his side on a young English core which has served him well this season, he may be a cheaper option to the likes of Jan Oblak.
Oblak is Premier League proven and having spent the last few seasons developing under Sean Dyche, the general consensus is that he is ready to make the step up to a bigger club. In his fight for an England call up, playing in the Champions League with Chelsea next season would certainly serve him well.
