Manchester United have no interest in keeping Alexis Sanchez.

When it was announced that Manchester United would be signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, I was worried. As an Arsenal fan, I knew exactly what Alexis was capable of and the thought of him playing for a rival team sickened me.

However, after just a month or so of watching him in a Manchester United shirt, I soon realised that the worry wasn’t worthwhile at all. In fact, it appeared that Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the player that was signed to replace the Chilean, was playing better at Arsenal than he was at United.

Anyway, some time down the line and they have both been playing out on loan in Italy, with neither setting the world alight so to speak. Alexis at Inter Milan has scored four Serie A goals and provided eight assists. Considering the numbers he produced at the Emirates Stadium and his extortionate wage at United, this is by no means good enough.

So now United find themselves in a sticky situation. They are understandably eager to sell him, but it’s hard to find any club that would be willing to pay his wage demands. This is likely why, according to the Express, United have slashed their asking price for the Chilean. The English outlet claims United want only £15m in return for Alexis’ services.

Manchester United have a frightening young attack these days, with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood all proving pivotal to the future success of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. That said, if Alexis were to return to United, he would find it even harder to make the starting XI.

£15m is a small price to pay considering the potential of Alexis’ talent, which we’ve seen at Arsenal and indeed Barcelona. It’s just a case of whether Inter feel they can squeeze that side out of him with a permanent deal. He has certainly not been disastrous during his loan, after all.
