Not only is Arteta doing special things with Arsenal but he also wants his Gabonese captain to be at the heart of these future projects. To do so, Arteta has claimed in many interviews that he is confident Aubameyang will stay and he wants him to.
Arteta will undoubtedly build his future team around Aubameyang. When you have a star striker like him available to you, it’s difficult not to, really. With the philosophy running centrally through Aubameyang, this means one thing will be assured; goals.
Having players out wide and through the middle that can provide creativity to Aubameyang is key. This has been shown many times since project restart, with Kieran Tierney, Dani Ceballos and Nicolas Pepe all providing Aubameyang with the balls he needs to score goals.
When you are given this amount of trust by your manager, as a player it’s difficult not to feel appreciated. Whether this feeling of belonging results in Aubameyang choosing to extend his contract remains to be seen. After all, it is down to the player at the end of the day. However, this level of trust and focus on what he can bring will be a telling factor as to whether he chooses to stay or not.
