Barcelona keen to keep their signing from Braga.

The season is not over for Barcelona but plenty of teams are lining up at their door asking about some of their players.

The club are planning to offload a number of players once the Champions League is over. The majority of them are veterans or players who don’t fit in Quique Setien’s plans.

However, it is one of their recent signings that has garnered a fair amount of attention.

More from FC Barcelona

According to Mundo Deportivo, Leicester City made a €50 million offer for newest signing, Francisco Trincao.

The Guardian reported that the deal Leicester proposed would have seen the Portuguese join for a two-season long loan with a purchase option of the one stated above.

Leicester stumbled through the end of the season and finished out of the top four thus missing Champions League football. Brendan Rogers is looking to strengthen his attack and Trincao would make an interesting option.

Despite not playing one minute for Barcelona, since he was signed from Sporting Braga for €31 million, the club have received plenty of offers for the winger. Atalanta were another team rumored to be interested.

The large sums being thrown about are apparently not enticing Barcelona who are not contemplating selling him.

Alongside Riqui Puig, Ansu Fati and Pedri, Trincao looks to be one of the pieces in the Catalans mini-revolution post-Messi. It’s no secret that Barça are an aging side. These four are part of their plan to rejuvenate the squad as well as be the one who can carry the team once Lionel Messi retires.

Trincao’s finished the season strong with Braga scoring a couple of stunning goals in the process. He ended the season with eight goals along with eight assists with the Portuguese side and is an exciting prospect for the future.

Recently, Barcelona have not had the best record with giving young players a shot. Come next season, they might have to do it out of necessity more than anything. Regardless, Trincao is set to do preseason with the team and then they’ll discuss what the best option for his development is going forward.
