Liverpool will be hoping Sadio Mane can help them out here.

Liverpool endured a terrific Premier League season. Although they stumbled at beating Manchester City’s record and the Coronavirus pandemic shadowed their celebration, Jurgen Klopp’s men deserve all the credit for sticking to their guns and dismantling the Premier League opposition this season.

There was even a time where it was thought that no team could beat Liverpool and that they would match Arsenal in their Invincible season. However, perhaps inevitably it wasn’t to be, Klopp is no Wenger. Of all the teams that could put Liverpool’s unbeaten streak to an end, it was the recently relegated Watford, with Ismaila Sarr putting the Reds to bed.

Now, by some twist of fate, Liverpool are hoping that they can bring Sarr to Anfield (as per Liverpool Echo). I suppose it does make perfect sense, given the Reds’ desire to strengthen their attack this season and Sarr inevitably looking for a move away; he is far too good for the Championship.

More from Liverpool FC

The Senegal international, who is a close friend of Sadio Mane, is ready for a step up to Liverpool. He has shown many signs of promise this season for Watford, and he owes himself a move to a bigger and better club for the sake of his future. He has a remarkable ability to make decisions on the ball for a player of his age, while his speed allows him to get the better of wingers.

He won’t be guaranteed a place in Liverpool’s starting XI, but I think this is very much a given. After all, the Reds possess one of the greatest attacking forces in the world currently. However, as Sarr is still young, he will look to learn from them with the hope of getting some game time in the domestic cups and from the bench when possible.

Xherdan Shaqiri simply needs to be sold, and Sarr would be his perfect replacement. If the Senegal international is willing to learn and put in some minutes on the training pitch, while managing to maintain an injury-free spell for longer than two days, then he is already an upgrade on Shaqiri.
