Perhaps inevitably, Chelsa have had to lower their asking price.

Chelsea have had a great transfer window so far, as both Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech will be joining the club for next season. However, they have not had as much luck with selling their deadwood players.

Frank Lampard wants to add his own personal touches to this Chelsea XI, since he was not able to do so when he first arrived as the club were serving a transfer ban. He has done well to work with what he’s had available to him, but now he has more freedom to do as he pleases.

However, this requires not only signing players but letting go of some also. Sometimes as a manager you simply have to be cruel to kind. One player that Lampard will be particularly keen to move on is Tiemoue Bakayoko, as he is not in his future plans at all with the Blues looking to sign another midfielder in Kai Havertz.

According to a new report from The Sun, Roman Abramovich and company may need to lower their asking price if they are to sell Bakayoko, with AC Milan seemingly interested; they were also in the running before Chelsea signed him. Lowering the asking price is something that Chelsea are willing to do.

I can understand these desperate measures. Chelsea have big plans and they need the funds to carry out those plans; something they can only do by selling players given the complications of the Coronacvirus pandemic.

Bakayoko is not the player Chelsea fans wanted him to be when he first signed and having spent a successful season out on loan in Ligue 1, it’s clear that he works in other leagues but not in the English top flight. That said, he will be eager to move somewhere he is more comfortable.

Next. It's time to start being honest about Frank Lampard. dark

Do you think Chelsea will be able to sell Tiemoue Bakayoko this summer?
