Manchester United could sign Brazil star instead of Jadon Sancho

Manchester United are certainly keeping their options open.
Manchester United understand that this transfer window is one like no other, with the recent economic crisis hitting the footballing world. That said, they have devised a plethora of options, from the prudent to the luxury.
It would seem to me that Jadon Sancho would be a luxury signing. Yes, he is an excellent player, but he does not play in a position of significant need for Manchester United and it would be difficult to justify his ridiculously expensive price tag.
But now that Manchester United are back in the UCL (and thank God for that, after their dreadful UEL showing), they need to be signing players of this calibre. This is why it’s good that they have begun to notice alternatives.

According to a new report from the oftentimes reliable Sky Sports, Manchester United are keen on a move for Douglas Costa.
The 29-year-old Brazil international is thought to be on his way out of Juventus this summer, with the Old Lady open to using him as part of a swap deal if an opportunity arises. There was talk a week ago that Costa could be offered to Arsenal in return for Alexandre Lacazette, so this is something that Manchester United will be wary of.
Costa’s career may have taken a turn for the worse in recent seasons, but the talent will always be there. He just needs the right manager and motivation to unlock the ability that we all know is there. He is a rapid winger that has an abundance of skill and technical ability; this is not lost, not with age and not with anything.
Costa has plenty of Champions League experience with the Juve and Bayern Munich. The one problem is that he tends to be injury-prone and, of course, he is not young like Jadon Sancho is. Still, he is a great alternative to have.
