Right midfielder: Nicolo Barella (Inter Milan)
The 23-year old has been a revelation this season. After a slow start to life with the Nerazzurri, he broke out with a fine performance against Verona in October and hasn’t looked back ever since. Intelligent, technically-gifted, and an excellent dribbler, he’s been outstanding recently. Barella scored in the match to Bayer Leverkusen, before providing an assist in the 5-0 rout of Shakhtar. His influence on this team is growing every week and will only improve from here.
Defensive midfielder: Marcelo Brozovic (Inter Milan)
The Croatian might be underrated, but he’s continued to prove his worth to the side by excelling at both ends. He’s the battering ram responsible for breaking up opposition play but also drives Inter forward by charging out of his line on occasions and is also an expert set-piece taker. He’s been involved in 10 goals in all competitions, most recently assisting D’Ambrosio with a well-taken corner kick against Shakhtar in the previous round. The Rojiblancos are quick in transitions, and Brozovic will be instrumental in foiling them.
Left midfielder: Éver Banega (Sevilla)
A key member of Sevilla’s team that went all the way in the competition in 2014 and 2015, Banega is set to leave the club – for the second time in his career – for Saudi side Al-Shabab after the conclusion of the Europa League, so lifting the trophy again would be the perfect swansong. The 32-year old starred in the 2019/20 league campaign by contributing 10 goals and has been heavily involved in the mix in the run-up to the final lately, assisting apiece in the win against Roma and Wolves. A tactically intelligent and versatile playmaker, the Argentine will be crucial in keeping the creative juices flowing.
