Paris St. Germain vs Bayern Munich: Combined XI of Champions League final
By Sachin Bhat
Left-winger: Neymar (PSG)
Injuries and suspensions have once again wreaked havoc in Neymar’s 2019/20 season, causing him to miss a staggering 22 games in all competitions! And yet, he’s managed to score 19 goals and assist 12 times and has been instrumental in guiding the Parisiens to the Champions League finals, scoring or assisting in every knockout tie so far. The Brazilian’s creativity, vision, and key passes have helped unlocked the meanest defenses, while his link-up play with Mbappe has become more devastating.
Striker: Kylian Mbappe (PSG)
The pandemic-enforced suspension of the French league didn’t deter the 21-year old ace from hitting 30 goals for the second season running, and he’s now on the cusp of completing the envious double of World Cup and Champions League even before his 22nd birthday! Mbappe has been imperious all season, but an ankle injury last month has taken a toll on his scoring output as he’s yet to score since the restart. Still, the French prodigy has made a couple of beautiful assists, including one against Atalanta recently, and will be hoping to find his shooting boots for the showpiece clash.
Striker: Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)
Lewandowski must’ve been livid after the cancellation of the 2020 Ballon d’Or, but completing the treble would nevertheless be a nice consolation. With 55 goals under his belt this season, the Pole has been peerless, devouring every defense on his way. He’s also scored in every appearance in the competition this term, and would certainly be aiming to finish his astronomical run on a high by netting in the finals.
