Well, I don’t think any Arsenal fan saw this one coming.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has a big task on his hands as the club prepares for the new season. He wishes to build on a title-winning season as he led the club he once managed to another FA Cup trophy. To do so, he needs to be prudent in the transfer window, having already signed Willian.
But signings aren’t the only important factor. Losing the right players is just as important as signing them. However, there are some players which nobody expects to be sold, and one of those is Hector Bellerin.
According to a report from The Times, Hector Bellerin has been offered to Paris Sant-Germain by Arsenal. The Parisians, who reached the UCL football but failed to win, are seriously interested in the Spaniard, as any club would be.

Bellerin is a rapid full-back who prides himself on his speed and ability to recover. This makes him just as deadly in the final third as his own defensive third. Bellerin was an important member to Arsenal’s project restart, but if this report is to be believed, then Arteta sees no future in him.
This doesn’t really make any sense to me. Bellerin has never shown any signs of discontentment in an Arsenal shirt and I would’ve thought that Arteta would get on well with his countryman. Still, Arteta knows more than I do and as an Arsenal fan, I would be misjudged to not trust his judgement after his achievements at the club so far.
I suppose this is what we’ve been calling out for, a manager that is willing to risk being disliked so long as he thinks it benefits the club. If Bellerin is sold, then he is certainly not irreplaceable and given the immense economic capital that the Parisians hold, despite not winning the UCL, Arsenal could seriously reinvest in this position.
Do you think Arsenal would be right to sell Hector Bellerin?
