Liverpool: One ambitious signing that could happen for Reds
By Nayan Dey
One of the most ambitious signings could finally happen for the six-time European champions.
Liverpool have been crowned as the champions of England after a long-awaited 30-year drought. According to Goal, recently their former player Rickie Lambert has predicted “Kylian Mbappe” from PSG as one of the most ambitious signings could finally happen for the last year’s UCL winners.
The Reds are currently linked with Thiago from FC Bayern Munich as their primary target for the upcoming season. The 29 year-old Brazilian midfielder played a crucial role in helping the German giants lift the UCL trophy and it equalise the no of titles with Liverpool FC.
Liverpool are not expected to make any record breaking signings in the current transfer window after facing financial loss due to COVID-19. But their former player Rickie Lambert predicts that the new deal struck with Nike will benefit the Reds a lot and could help them make a “marquee signing” for the next year.
"“I would like to see Liverpool bring in at least one more forward to help with the goals, to help the front three and to give it a little bit more competition.“I was thinking with Nike taking over, every time you take over a team, they always have a marquee signing.“I was hoping Mbappe or something. But I think he is out of our reach, to be honest.” – Ricky Lambert (quoted by Goal)"
Liverpool are not expected to spend massively in 2020 due to financial issues and Kylian Mbappe is out of reach for this season, but the Premier League can aim to sign the French striker next year.
Kylian Mbappe recently stated that he has no plans to Paris for now and he hopes to take one step ahead and achieve his UCL dream with PSG next year. The French forward would consider leaving PSG if they fail to match their recent achievement of reaching the UCL final.
Already rumours are predicting his partner Neymar to be leaving the club in the current season. Similarly, Kylian Mbappe could be tempted by clubs like Liverpool and Real Madrid to join their club next year.
