Ajax starlet Donny van de Beek set to join Manchester United
By Quinn Allen
Donny van de Beek looks to be on his way to Old Trafford from Amsterdam.
With numerous other fine talents such as Hakim Ziyech and Frenkie de Jong leaving Ajax in the last year, it looks increasingly likely that one of their top attackers could also be following suit. Manchester United have been linked with a move for Donny van de Beek since January, with others such as Real Madrid and Barcelona said to be keen on the youngster.
According to the Mirror UK, the Red Devils have stepped up their pursuit of the Dutch international and are on the verge of signing van de Beek for a reported 40 million euros, which could reach up to 45 million after bonuses.
A five-year deal in Manchester is in the works, with the player set to put pen to paper in the coming days. The 23-year old will reportedly see a substantial rise in his wages, with United set to pay him 30,000 pounds per week.

New Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman, who was in charge of the Netherlands national team, is interested in bringing van de Beek to Camp Nou, but with the ongoing turmoil surrounding Lionel Messi, the Red Devils jumped on the opportunity to grab such a bright talent. Ajax chief executive Edwin van der Sar has lent a helping hand in the signing for Manchester United, having played at Old Trafford for a number of years.

Last year in the Eredivisie, van de Beek scored eight goals in 37 appearances, while also tallying five assists. Manchester United have had a relatively quiet summer after hoping to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, but given the current circumstances, the funds weren’t available to spend over 100 million euros for the Englishman. But, if Ed Woodward can secure the signing of van de Beek, United would add another quality midfielder alongside Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.
The Dutchman has a fantastic work rate and has shown the ability to bag goals and also set them up thanks to his creativity in the final third. He’s a box to box midfielder who is also very physical defensively. van de Beek’s style of play is quite similar to Pogba and Fernandes, which is why these three would work so well together for Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side.
van de Beek wasn’t chosen for Ajax’s friendly against Frankfurt on Saturday and it was later revealed that he was left out due to the ongoing discussions of his future with the Dutch giants.
At this point, it seems as the player and club are all in. Manchester United could use another well-rounded midfielder like Donny van de Beek and he won’t break the bank. It seems like the perfect signing for the Red Devils.
