Chelsea are not shying away from being big spenders this summer.
Chelsea have an objective, to win the Premier League next season. Given that this is the first season in which Frank Lampard is actually able to personalise his squad, he is not taking advantage of it, even given the obvious Coronavirus factor.
The English manager seems to be consistently ticking players off his shortlist, which Chelsea fans will love. The most recent of the bunch was the free agent Thiago Silva, and the next is thought to be Kai Havertz.
According to the Guardian, Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen have finally agreed on a fee. And to no surprise, the Blues have broken another record. It’s thought that the Blues will pay £72m to sign the German playmaker, which is a club-record fee.

When the Blues signed Timo Werner earlier in the window, it was the most any German player had been valued in history. But now, just a few weeks later, Chelsea are set to break the record they set themselves. Lampard does a love a record, after all.
It shows also that the board trust in Frank Lampard and his project, and so they should. Although they won no silverware, the English manager carried his club without any new signings to UCL qualification and, of course, an FA Cup final which they ultimately did lose to Arsenal.
Long story short, Chelsea fans have every right to be excited for next season. The Blues have strengthened in almost every position and Havertz is certainly a nice option to have. He will provide an abundance of creativity in the attacking midfield while also not being shy to get on the scoresheet himself. He will be the anchor between the midfield and attack with his flair allowing him to get out of tight positions and dribble well with the ball at his feet.
Do you think Chelsea will finalise the deal for Kai Havertz?
