It looks as Rodriguez has found his next destination.
After being linked with a move away from Madrid for quite some time, James Rodriguez has finally moved on from the La Liga giants.
According to The Telegraph, The 29-year old in on the verge of agreeing to a three-year contract with the Toffees, reuniting him with former boss Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian was the boss of Real Madrid during Rodriguez’s first season in the Spanish capital in 2014-15 and was also a vital reason the Colombian joined Bayern Munich on loan in 2017 when Ancelotti was briefly in charge of the Bavarian club.
He’s clearly keen on James’ abilities in the middle of the pitch and also brought in former Napoli player and Brazilian international Allan this summer, who he also managed at the San Paoli in 2018. Spanish outlet Marca has stated that Everton will pay in the region of 25 to 30 million euros for Rodriguez.

After breaking onto the scene in the 2014 World Cup for Colombia, the former Porto star has struggled to find his place with Madrid. He signed for 63 million euros from Ligue 1 outfit Monaco that year, but after just two seasons in Spain, he requested a move in order to find more playing time, joining Bayern on a two-year loan with an option to buy. James failed to impress enough for the Bundesliga giants to make him a permanent player, eventually returning to Zinedine Zidane‘s side last season, where he went on to make eight domestic appearances.
Although Rodriguez has failed to secure a spot in a starting eleven at two of the biggest clubs in the world, a move to Goodison Park could be valuable for the midfielder. A fresh start always helps and he’s very familiar with Ancelotti’s tactics.
The Premier League nor Real Madrid have confirmed the signing, but the player has long been interested in continuing his career in England’s top-flight. With the additions of James Rodriguez and Allan, Everton fans will be licking their chops with a new-look midfield that has a wealth of experience in other top leagues in Europe.
